Some
of our Alfalfa was put up in large square bales this year. Above baler
produces 1500 pound bales.
|
The
bale carrier behind the baler collects 4 large bales before unloading.
This speeds up the baling process as the operator doesn't need to stop
to unload after each bale. |
Loading time is also faster as 4
bales can be loaded on a semi-trailer or flat bed trailer before moving
to the next 4 bales.
|
The large square bales can easily be
stacked 4 or 5 high for storage with a front end loader.
|
The
rest of our hay was processed into large round bales (about 1800 # ea).
These can be easily fed in round bale feeders.
|
This is a sample of Corn Silage
after it has been through the fermentation process. The green corn is
finely chopped into 3/8 inch lengths and mixed with a preservative to
preserve the nutrients value before packing.
|
Ground
Alfalfa is mixed with corn silage, corn, a soy bean based protein
supplement, vitamins and minerals to prepare a balanced ration for our
calves. Samples of our feed stuffs (Alfalfa & Silage) are sent to a
lab to determine the relative feed value. |
Ground
Alfalfa being loaded into our mixer feed wagon with corn, silage,
protein, vitamins & minerals. These ingredients are well mixed
before feeding so that each animal receives a consistent ration.
